Privacy Policy for Calco

Your privacy is important to us. It is Calco's policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you through our app.

1. Information We Collect

Log Data: When you access our app, our servers may automatically log the standard data provided by your device. This data may include your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, your device type and version, your activity within the app, time and date, and other details.
Personal Information: We may ask for personal information, such as your name, email, date of birth, gender, height, and weight to provide our service.
User-Generated Content: We collect the content you create, upload, or receive from others when using our services. This includes food logs and custom data you enter.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and provide the features and functionality of the app, including personalizing your daily nutrition goals and tracking your progress. We store your data securely using Google Firebase services.

3. Camera & On-Device Processing

Calco uses your device camera to scan food items for nutrition analysis and to detect body poses during workouts. Camera images for food scanning are processed via a secure server and are not stored after analysis. Pose detection runs entirely on-device using Google ML Kit and no video or image data leaves your device during workouts.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We employ third-party companies to facilitate our Service. These third parties have access to your data only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Google Firebase — authentication, database storage, analytics, and crash reporting.
Google AdMob — displays advertisements to non-premium users. AdMob may collect device identifiers for ad personalization subject to your App Tracking Transparency choice.
RevenueCat — manages subscription purchases and entitlements.
OpenAI — processes food images for identification (via our secure server; images are not retained).

5. Security

We take security seriously and use industry-standard encryption provided by Firebase to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.

7. Account Deletion

You may delete your Calco account and associated personal data at any time from inside the app, under Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent and removes:

Your user profile (name, email, height, weight, goals, dietary preferences).
Logged food entries, weight entries, health metrics, completed exercises, workout history, meal plans, allergies, and per-user challenge progress.
Personal achievements and saved meal templates.

Community contributions you authored (barcode contributions, food reviews, public challenges) may be retained in anonymized form so other users' history is not broken; your name and user ID are removed from those records.

If your subscription was purchased via Google Play or the Apple App Store, the subscription itself is governed by the respective store's policy and is not cancelled automatically by deleting your Calco account. Cancel via Google Play / Apple Subscriptions settings separately.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as you have an active Calco account, plus a short grace period for backup integrity:

Active accounts: data is retained while the account exists.
After account deletion: personal data is removed within 30 days from primary databases. Encrypted backups are rotated and overwritten within a further 60 days.
Anonymized analytics events (no personal identifiers) may be retained indefinitely for product improvement.
Records we are required by law to retain (e.g., tax records related to subscription purchases) are kept for the period required by applicable regulation.
